  1. Yes people have a right to be disenchanted in the outcome of a vote, and to voice their grievances, but they don't have a right to do that by destroying property that doesn't belong to them, by causing mayhem and disrupting life for others. I don't consider any of that as a terrorist threat, it's just people who didn't get their way, acting on a way that tends to prove they should never have had their way in the first place.
  2. And that's how politics works
  3. I agree, I'm sure it's happened in other places but I don't recall when or where and having lived away from my own country for many years, I didn't have to put up with all the politics and ensuing mumbo jumbo. IF for some reason and through some loophole, they overturn the election result prior to Trump taking office, I think it would put the USA in a very poor light in the global community. And although some think it doesn't matter what other places think, it really does when it comes to trade, economy and the various alliances countries have with each other. I hope it's all calmed down before January.
  4. LOL Dawn, you are starting to remind me of my mother As she got older her only interest was politics and she would cut out newspaper stories to show us when we were in Australia on holiday .. we didn't read them but she felt better thinking we had

Thanks Laurie .. regards to the family and tell MsDawn that I said she better get herself better soon or I'll have to go over there and take charge !!!! And that would be a bit scary lol
  9. Koach, the photoshopped photo popped up on my Facebook notifications a day or so ago. It was supposedly a photo being used by the Clinton campaign to show how popular they are. I don't remember the original wording on the notification but I googled it, and got hits from Snopes and other websites claiming it was a hoax and not something that had been officially used by either side of the candidates.

Sorry to hear this news. What happened? I hope the boys are ok and have someone (perhaps their grandmother) to be with them. Please tell the boys that Australian Nan is thinking of them and their mum.
  13. Yes that's been doing the facebook rounds in the past week or so. I googled it and it is claimed it was a hoax photo (of course I knew that) but it was not, as claimed, being promoted by the Clinton campaign, but rather by a random troublemaker

  16. I'm heading off to Papua New Guinea in a couple of weeks for a holiday, on a cruise. As some of you know I lived there for a number of years before moving to Vanuatu. I thought I'd add this video about PNG for those who might be interested in seeing what it is like. We found, on a trip to Hawaii and America some years ago, that many people had never heard of PNG and thought we were talking about a country in Africa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oK0Qtg1tsg
  17. Sounds like an excellent idea
  18. A friend of mine's husband put this video together when he and his mates took their bikes to the island of Tanna, in Vanuatu for some fun and frivolity. The mountain that is featured is Mt Yasur, a live volcano. On one side it is possible to walk to the edge of the crater and look down into the lava bubbling away below. On the other side (where the bikes can be seen) it is covered with volcanic ash and at the bottom is the ash plain. Some good fun was had by all on a little island in the South West Pacific : I walked to the edge of that volcano some years ago and sat on the rim for about 30 minutes, it's one of the most memorable things I've done and was an awesome experience, especially when all of a sudden the mountain went from complete silence to a deep rumbling and then the lava was flying up into the air (not up as high as we were on the rim), scary but amazing.
  19. Excellent, that explains it !!!
