    Texan X-mas lights ?

They look like the strings of firecrackers that we used to light outside all the houses on Chinese New Year when we lived in New Guinea. The Dragon dancers would visit all the Chinese homes in town and when they arrived the strings of crackers would be lit .. with the sound of the drums and the crackers and it was pretty loud and heaps of fun

    Brunch

Brunch today was with my granddaughter Kiri at our favourite restaurant Gallos. Gallos is a lovely restaurant set on a hill and is part of a very large dairy about 15 minutes from where I l live. We had their cheese platter which is a range of their products.

    No reason!

Good heavens girl, your signature takes up almost the entire screen of my laptop! Would you mine changing it to something smaller and less obtrusive please. I'm sure you will understand, given that you have problems with your screen and font sizes when bots are activated for things like YouTube.

    NZ LAMB

LOL .. Abi thought it was super cute and asked if we will meet the lamb when we go to NZ in early 2019 .. I told her probably not that one but I'm sure they will have new ones by then

    NZ LAMB

LOL she's so sweet and they are bottle feeding her. And she's being trained to walk on a harness. I think I need to find a sheep farmer so I can help feed the lambs
  14. This was taken by a close friend in New Zealand today, they had to rescue this little bundle of cuteness and take her up to the house as her mum wasn't feeding her. She is only a few days old. I just had to share
  15. Thanks for the explanation, I think I understand. I agree that there is no place where sport and politics should be mixed together. I also agree that people in the public eye, such as well known sportsmen and women should either do nothing other than play their sport (for which they are paid nicely) or if they feel they need to be involved, take it off the sporting field. I was confused with the reference to the military as the post seems to be more about the attitude to law enforcement. But I also know that the military is held in very high esteem in America unlike Australia where I think the police force is probably the higher order.
  16. Not sure what to "take a knee" means, but the post looks like one of those viral ones doing the rounds of social media. I never ever copy and paste anything to social media. I understand the sentiment, and it's probably something that could be said for many country's leaders who are striving to do the right thing for their people.

    Glorious Insults

These glorious insults are from an era “before” the English language got boiled down to 4-letter words: A member of Parliament to Disraeli: "Sir, you will either die on the gallows or of some unspeakable disease.” "That depends, Sir, " said Disraeli, "whether I embrace your policies or your mistress.""He had delusions of adequacy ." -Walter Kerr"He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire." - Winston Churchill "I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." -Clarence Darrow "He has never been known to use a word that might send a reader to the dictionary." -William Faulkner (about Ernest Hemingway) "Thank you for sending me a copy of your book; I'll waste no time reading it." -Moses Hadas "I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it." -Mark Twain "He has no enemies, but is intensely disliked by his friends." -Oscar Wilde "I am enclosing two tickets to the first night of my new play; bring a friend, if you have one." -George Bernard Shaw to Winston Churchill "Cannot possibly attend first night, will attend second... If there is one." -Winston Churchill, in response "I feel so miserable without you; it's almost like having you here." -Stephen Bishop "He is a self-made man and worships his creator." -John Bright "I've just learned about his illness. Let's hope it's nothing trivial." -Irvin S. Cobb "He is not only dull himself; he is the cause of dullness in others." -Samuel Johnson "He is simply a shiver looking for a spine to run up." - Paul Keating "In order to avoid being called a flirt, she always yielded easily." -Charles, Count Talleyrand "He loves nature in spite of what it did to him." Forrest Tucker "Why do you sit there looking like an envelope without any address on it?" -Mark Twain "His mother should have thrown him away and kept the stork." -Mae West "Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go." -Oscar Wilde "He uses statistics as a drunken man uses lamp-posts... For support rather than illumination." -Andrew Lang (1844-1912) "He has Van Gogh's ear for music." -Billy Wilder "I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. But I'm afraid this wasn't it." -Groucho Marx
  18. For those who may have missed me talking about it in #kws, there is a new wind farm being constructed not far from where I live. They have to erect something like 85 wind turbines, each one having 3 blades. The first blade came up to our mountains yesterday and the link below is to a video that shows it turning off one main road onto another. At this stage, it was up the mountain range road and heading to the final destination the other side of town. Bear in mind the blade is 57m long (187 feet) and it weighs 16 tonnes (17.5 tons)

LOL !!!!!!!! A friend of mine who I've known for well over 30 years was a friend of Heff's and yesterday she posted a photo of her and her daughters with him. He seems to be wearing the same "dressing gown" or perhaps he had a whole wardrobe filled with them. She said he was a very kind man.
