  1. If someone buying a house can't afford a deposit, how on earth are they going to be able to afford a house ?

    The Barber Shop

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door. Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop. The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen doughnuts waiting for him at his door. Then a Member of Parliament came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Member of Parliament was very happy and left the shop. The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Members of Parliament lined up waiting for a free haircut. And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.
  3. Happy Birthday eXonyte, have a great day !!!!
  4. Moving right along, I've decided (with a little persuasion from my daughter) that Laylah needs a buddy because she hates being home alone if I am out, sooooo I have decided to get her a friend. Meet BonBon who is a shih tzu cross something or other and who will come to live with us in about 3 weeks from now. This is the before pic, and I shall post another once she is here and has been clipped

    The dentist

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN GUILTY OF LOOKING AT OTHERS YOUR OWN AGE AT A REUNION AND THINKING, SURELY I CAN'T LOOK THAT OLD? WELL......YOU'LL LOVE THIS ONE! "MY NAME IS ALICE SMITH AND I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW DENTIST. I NOTICED HIS DENTAL DIPLOMA, WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME. SUDDENLY, I REMEMBERED A TALL, HANDSOME, DARK HAIRED BOY WITH THE SAME NAME HAD BEEN IN MY SECONDARY SCHOOL CLASS SOME 30-ODD YEARS AGO. COULD HE BE THE SAME GUY THAT I HAD A SECRET CRUSH ON, WAY BACK THEN? UPON SEEING HIM, HOWEVER, I QUICKLY DISCARDED ANY SUCH THOUGHT. THIS BALDING, GREY HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS FAR TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE. AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ATTENDED MORGAN PARK SECONDARY SCHOOL .. 'YES, YES I DID. I'M A MORGANNER! 'HE BEAMED WITH PRIDE. 'WHEN DID YOU LEAVE TO GO TO COLLEGE?' I ASKED HE ANSWERED, IN 1965. WHY DO YOU ASK? 'YOU WERE IN MY CLASS!' I EXCLAIMED. HE LOOKED AT ME CLOSELY. THEN THE UGLY, OLD, BALD, WRINKLED, FAT ARSED, GREY HAIRED, DECREPIT, SOD ASKED.. 'WHAT DID YOU TEACH?
  12. What fun pics and yes I love the cows disguised as rhinos too
  13. Here is a photo taken today of one of our local waterfalls where the Barron River, cascades down from our mountains towards the coast. We are in the middle of a strong monsoonal weather pattern and have had almost constant rain for over a week. It's beautiful, but deadly too if you are downstream of those falls. The Barron goes from the Tablelands in the mountains down to the coast near Cairns. The second picture is the lake where the Barron River starts it's descent down 3,000 ft to the coast (and where we ski now and then)
  14. I think it was some sort of protest during our Australia Day celebrations - there's always one group or other who either want the name changed, or have some gripe about being an Australian

    Sunset tonight

As some may know, we have had a tropical cyclone threat in the area where I live. Fortunately for us, it's swung further south and although we have experienced the past 4 days of gale force winds and lots of rain, we aren't battening down the hatches for a cyclone tonight (as some other places are doing). We will still get a lot of wind and rain from the cyclone as it crosses land, but nothing like what we expected a few days ago. Here's a photo I took about 40 mins ago of our sunset tonight, that seems to promise us a better day tomorrow.

    Mystery Cruise

A magician worked on a cruise ship. The audience was different each week so the magician did the same tricks over and over again. There was only one problem: The captain's parrot saw the shows each week and began to understand how the Magician did every trick. Once he understood, he started shouting in the middle of the show, "Look, It?s not the same hat!" or, "Look, he's hiding the flowers under the table!" Or "Hey, why are all the cards the ace of spades?" The magician was furious but couldn't do anything. It was, after all, the Captain's' parrot. Then one stormy night on the Pacific, the ship unfortunately sank, drowning almost all who were on board. The magician luckily found himself on a piece of wood floating in the middle of the sea, as fate would have it ... With the parrot. They stared at each other with hatred, but did not utter a word. This went on for a day... And then 2 days. And then 3 days. Finally on the 4th day, the parrot could not hold back any longer and said.... "OK, I give up. Where's the ship?"
