  1. LOL booboo I know what you mean, I used to have a little tabletop tripod I could use when necessary but over a couple of house moves it seems to have disappeared. It was very handy

  5. Rather than rail on about Islam's alleged "evil," it behooves everyone - Muslim and non-Muslim alike - to help modernize this civilization. I absolutly agree with that Henry.
  6. I have been considering the option of getting a cat one day when I only have one (or no) dogs. Siamese are beautiful and along with Burmese and Devon Rex would be at the top of my list. I have to say I am also a bit partial to ragdoll cats. So who knows what I will get eventually. Whitey and Curly are both so beautiful and regal.
  7. Thank you for that Henry. My opinion which is possibly flawed, is that we are all different and it is time that everyone recognised the differences and respected them. One day in a perfect world, we would all get along.
  8. I omitted to mention that once your scones are cooked and ready to serve (best served warm) you should break them in half with a knife and top each half with jam and a dab of cream.

  10. This is my recipe for muesli slice which is healthy and yummy at the same time. Great with a cup of tea or coffee as a snack. Ingredients: (these can differ to your preference with regard to the dried fruit and berries you use) 125g Butter - chopped 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar 2 tablespoons honey 1-1/3 cups rolled oats 1/2 cup shredded coconut 1/2 cup self-raising flour 1/2 cup dried cranberries 1/2 cup finely chopped dried pineapple 1/2 cup slivered almonds 1/2 cup finelychopped walnuts (for those with allergies to nuts you can leave out the almonds and walnuts and substitute something else - perhaps some pipetas - pumpkin seeds - or other seeds and grains) Preheat oven to 180C (moderate) Grease a `9cm x 30cm pan and line with baking paper Heat butter, sugar and honey until all sugar disolved then pour into dry ingredients. Press firmly into the pan and bake for about 20 minutes. Cool in pan before cutting into slices. Store in an airtight container. Serve with a cuppa for morning or afternoon tea and enjoy

  12. We were talking food in kws as we tend to do and cooking scones came up. It seems that scones in America are quite different to the scones we eat here in Australia. Our scones are eaten with a tea or coffee for morning or afternoon tea or as a supper, and can be sweet or savoury Here is my mother's recipe which I use when I make them: SIFT 8oz or 2 large cups of Self Raising Flour - 1/2 level teaspoon salt - 1 bablespoon sugar RUB IN lightly with fingertips 1 tablespoon of table margarine or butter until it is all mixed POUR nearly all of 1 cup of milk in at once, keeping back 1-1/2 tablespoons for glazing later MIX the above into a soft dough with a knife - don't overwork it Turn the ball of dough onto a well floured board or a pastry sheet and knead it lightly a few times with your hands Roll out lightly about 3/4 inch thick. Cut into shapes with a floured knife or a small circular cutter, glaze tops with milk and place on a greased and floured slide or tray. Have a very hot oven that is ready at 475F and place the tray in the oven and cook for 10 to 12 minuntes. Makes one dozen Serve with jam and whipped cream and a cup of tea or coffee PS: you can add some pumpkin to the mixture and have pumpkin scones which are slightly savoury and served with butter and a cuppa. Enjoy !

    Thank you for telling us all about it Henry, it's so interesting to learn about another country, especially as many of us will not have the chance to visit in person.

    Mods

    I remember way back in the olden days, Mods originated in London I think and wore funky clothing and long hair and the adults thought they were terrible young folk. However it was a great fashion and Twiggy came to fame and fortune during the mod fashion craze. Interestingly, similar styles of clothing and hair arel worn today but called something else still .
