Stormy Posted April 21, 2015 Report Share Posted April 21, 2015 I have two externals, a WD and a Seagate, I really can't tell the difference, although I'm not sure I'd bother with a USB 3.0 if your USB ports are 2.0. You'll need some kind of an external case to give you power for the drive and will also give you a USB port to connect to. Smiley Posted April 21, 2015 Report Share Posted April 21, 2015 I have a one Gig external I got from Tiger, it has USB 2 line (the highest speed that my old computer's usb bus will handle, and it has a little power supply transformer similar to what you would have with a laptop computer. If you want to lug it around with the laptop, then you would want to go with one of the passport types, they are designed specifically for portability. Winchester and Seagate are both excellent manufacturers, and I have used both as replacements or extra drives to the factory installed ones.
