TV_Tech
This set is my most recent purchase. I bought it from the original owner who had it in his attic for 40+ years. Again it's all complete and no one had messed with it. The CRT (picture tube) tests like new as well. The original owner said the set was only turned on for a couple hours a week until they bought a color set then they stuffed this one in the attic. I have yet to get started on this set other than to make up a list of the tube set and capacitors for it. More on this set to come.
Star
Now THAT reminds me of the first TV we had. Gosh, it looks so good. The condition is amazing.
TV_Tech
I too was surprised at the condition this set is in Star. Even the inside was spotless other than a small amount of dust. I'm looking forward to getting started on it but first I want to finish the 1948 RCA set
TV_Tech
Here is the Electrohome set pulled from it's cabinet and on the test bench.
TV_Tech
after replacing a few shorted capacitors here is the result. now I'll go ahead and replace all the caps in this set. 31 in total. Note most of the distortion is coming from the television analyst I just picked up. It was built in the early '50s and needs an over haul too. Administrators Koach Posted October 9, 2012 Administrators Report Share Posted October 9, 2012 Very interesting project. Will you refinish the cabinet or is it worth more as original?
TV_Tech
The cabinet is perfect so I'll leave that as is. Perhaps a good rub down with some lemon oil and that's it
