This contemporary story is a fantasy; indeed, it is a fairy tale dealing with parental love and emotions. It is a powerful story, and I am sure you will appreciate it. The story was published in the April 20, 2009 issue of The New Yorker. and is the first of Adrian's works which I have encountered. He has been selected by The New Yorker as one of its "20 under 40" writers. He was born in Washington, D.C. and now lives in San Francisco. He is a Fellow in pediatric hematology-oncology with UCSF.
