Since 1997 he has taught at Stanford University, where he serves as Professor in the Ward W. and Priscilla B. Woods School of Humanities and Sciences. He is best known for his short stories most of which have been published in anthologies. Two of which have been adapted for film. This story is an unexpected version of the "last thing to go thru your mind at the moment of death?", and no , "a 1/4 ounce of hot lead", is not the correct answer.
