Music players in chat room

Hi all,

As I am sure you have noticed, there are times in #Koachsworkshop when the messages that show information about whatever song the person is listening to become overwhelming and make it hard to chat.

So, I am looking for suggestions how to solve this problem.

One idea is to ask people to display their music in a special room devoted to music, and to not display info in #Koachsworkshop at all.

Another suggestion was to ask people to only play music in #koachsworkshop when they are actually online and chatting.

So, please add your thoughts about this topic so we can find a solution without ruining each person's chat experience.

Thanks

Koach

Hi, Koach.

I understand how many people must be bothered by all the music. I think, we should keep to only people who are chatting in #Kws. I've been listening to my music since first joining the server, and Yes! I realize I have gone to sleep a couple times and have apologized for that.

Seems to me that some people are just now playing music that never have before. I actually blame myself for this but, didn't realize perhaps it's my own fault, I am TRULY SORRY. :(

This is my first post as the newest forum member.  I just found a .mrc that echo's the songs and other's do not have to be bothered with info. I understand the "T.I.M." effect.  I also understand certain people, eg Patsy, have a difficult time with windows 8 and has a music system set up to play music and doesn't want to change it. I understand her knowledge about computers esp operating Win 8 is limited.

I am flexible, so there's no problems either way.

My personal opinion is that they are very annoying, which is why i played mine, to simply prove that point...

I'm almost always listening to music, but i have no need to make everyone know that fact, or force them to see it..

Just think about it, it was only a couple people that were doing it, imagine if it was more? 5, 10, or more people doing the same thing?

Would get old real fast, right? look how fast just 3-4 people created this issue, now there's a big todo about it all..

I mean, if you're listening to a song, and want to tell people and/or discuss it, sure, i get that.. "man, i'm listeing to <yadda> <yadda> and it sure does bring me back..."

But to have it display just for the sake of having it display? no point, not in my opinion anyway.

Some people just like listening to music as they chat. I don't see a problem in that. It's sad to have to have a discussion about this and not discussing other actual interesting stuff.  Stop stressing the small stuff about chat. You know we'll just either create a music room or have it not be allowed at all. So why bother? Everyone has a different POV, therefore, not going anywhere with it. And I know Koach is just going to say that I'm wrong because he only see things through his narrow eyes.  I've been right before. Have some hope/faith in people. Goddamm. This should never have been a problem in the first place.

I agree, it should not have been a problem, but as with many things, it became a problem due to over use. I, personally see no point in announcing what I'm listening to with an auto announcer. Possibly as Tw|tch said, say something like "I've got Twiddle Dee singing Moonlight over Mogadishu, has anyone else heard that? If so, what did you think?" But just to announce a song that no one else can hear is rather narcissistic.

This has been my personal opinion and in no way expresses the opinion of Koach.com and is not to be mistaken for an official opinion.

They could all be turned off tomorrow and I'd be happy, if they're all being played tomorrow, I'll find a way to prevent it giving me indigestion, I'm sure.

I think 20 lashes with a wet noodle as well as writing 200 times " I will not ruin Koach's chat experience" might do it. (6)
